Specifying speaker distances

To get the best from surround sound, it’s important that the sound from each speaker reaches the listener at the same time. To achieve this, you need to specify the distance from each speaker to the listening position.

1.Measure and make a note of the distance from each speaker to the listening position.

2.Press the SPEAKER ADJUST three times.

“Distance Setup” then “Front:” are displayed. To select other speakers, press SPEAKER ADJUST again.

SpeakerDistance

Front

(Front-left and front-right speakers. The default setting is 12 ft.)

Center

(Center speaker. The default setting is 12 ft.)

Surr Right

(Surround-right speaker. The default setting is 7 ft.)

Surr Left

(Surround-left speaker. The default setting is 7 ft.)

Subwoofer

(Subwoofer. The default setting is 12 ft.)

3.Press PRESET/ADJUST repeatedly to specify the speaker distance.

Use the DISPLAY button to select meters or feet.

You can specify speaker distances of between 1 and 30 ft. in 1 ft. steps. However, the Front Distance limits the Distance of other speakers. The Center Distance and Subwoofer Distance must be within plus or minus 5 ft. of the Front Distance. The Surround Right Distance and Surround Left Distance must be no less than –15 ft. or no more than +5 ft. of the Front Distance. For example, if the Front Distance is set to 20 ft., you must set the Distance of other speakers as follows: Center Distance, Subwoofer Distance: 15 to 25 ft. Surround Right Distance, Surround Left Distance: 5 to 25 ft.

4.Repeat steps 2 and 3 for all five parameters.
