Selecting the AF area

When selecting 1-area-focusing or

1-area-focusing (High speed), the AF area can be selected as shown in the following figure. When using spot-focusing you can also move the spot metering target to match the AF area.

When using the digital zoom or when you take pictures in dark places, the AF area is displayed on the center of the screen with a size wider than usual.

1Set the Focus switch to [AF] or

[AF MACRO].

2Press the [FOCUS] button.

3While pressing the [FOCUS] button, use

3/4/2/1 to move the AF area.

4Release the [FOCUS] button to set.

The following operations will return the AF area to the previous one

Setting the mode dial to auto mode [ ].

Turning the camera off.

When multiple AF areas (max. 9 areas) light at the same time, the camera is focusing on all the AF areas.

The focus position is not predetermined because it is set to the position that the camera automatically determines at the time of focusing. If you want to determine the focus position to take pictures, switch the AF mode to 1-area-focusing mode or Spot-focusing mode.
