The AF assist lamp does not turn on.

Is [AF ASSIST LAMP] on the [REC] menu set to [ON]? (P60)

The AF assist lamp does not turn on in bright places.

The camera and batteries become warm.

The surface of the camera during use and the batteries immediately after a long time use become warm. This does not cause a problem with the performance or quality of the camera.

The lens clicks.

When brightness has changed due to the zoom or the movement of the camera or other, the lens may click and the picture on the screen may be drastically changed, however, the pictures are not affected. The sound is caused by automatic adjustment of the aperture. It is not a malfunction.

The clock is reset.

If you do not use the camera for a long time, the clock setting may be reset.

When the message [PLEASE SET THE CLOCK] appears, set the clock again. (P16) When you take a picture before setting the clock, [0:00 0. 0. 0] is recorded.

When pictures are taken using the zoom, they are slightly distorted and the areas around the subject contain colors which are not actually present.

It is possible that the subject may be warped slightly or the borders get colored, depending on the zoom magnification, but this is not malfunction.

Zooming stops instantaneously.

When using the Extended Optical Zoom, the zooming action will stop temporarily near [W]. This is not a malfunction.

File numbers are not created in order.

• Certain operations cause pictures to be saved in folders with different numbers. (P76)

The file numbers are recorded in ascending order.

If the batteries are inserted or removed without first turning the camera’s power off, the folder and file numbers for the pictures taken will not be stored in the memory. When the power is then turned back on and pictures are taken, they may be stored under file numbers which should have been assigned to previous pictures.

[AGE] is not displayed correctly.

• Check the clock (P16) and birthday settings (P45, 46).

The lens barrel is retracted.

The lens barrel retracts about 15 seconds after switching from Recording Mode to Playback Mode.

If the camera is left for a while, [DEMO MODE] is suddenly started.

This is an auto demo to introduce this unit. Press any button to return to the previous screen.
