Using the External Viewfinder (optional)

When the External Viewfinder (DMW-VF1: optional) is attached, you can use it to view the recording screen when taking wide-angle pictures.

Preparation:

••Turn the camera ON/OFF switch to [OFF].

••Remove the hot shoe cover attached to the camera. (→9)

Firmly insert the External Viewfinder into the hot shoe, as far as it will go

Turn the camera ON/OFF switch to [ON]

If the LCD monitor is too bright when you look through the viewfinder eyepiece

You can turn off the LCD monitor during recording by setting [Opt. Viewfinder] (→146) of [Rec] menu to [ON].

••The status indicator lights up.

••Press [DISP.] button to switch the display.

●●The field-of-view frame of the External Viewfinder indicates the area that can be used for a 24 mm lens (35 mm film camera equivalent, aspect ratio 3:2, Wide).

●●The frame lines are a reference for the recording range. Check the LCD monitor for a more accurate view.

●●If the lens surface gets dirty, wipe it with a dry soft cloth.

●●Attach and detach the External Viewfinder carefully and correctly.

●●The External Viewfinder cannot be used together with an external flash.

●●When the shoulder strap is attached, make sure that the strap does not get snagged on the External Viewfinder.

●●Be sure to hold both the camera and the External Viewfinder when the External Viewfinder is attached to the camera. If you hold only the External Viewfinder, it could become detached from the camera.
