Troubleshooting
If you still have difficulties after following the instructions in this section, disconnect
the base unit’s AC adaptor, then reconnect the base unit’s AC adaptor. Remove the
batteries from the handset, and then insert the batteries into the handset again.

Problem Cause/solution
The handset does not turn
on even after installing
charged batteries.
LPlace the handset on the base unit or charger to
turn on the handset.
The unit does not work. LMake sure the batteries are installed correctly
(page 10).
LFully charge the batteries (page 10).
LCheck the connections (page 8).
LUnplug the base unit’s AC adaptor to reset the
unit. Reconnect the adaptor and try again.
LThe handset has not been registered to the base
unit. Register the handset (page 29).
I cannot hear a dial tone. LThe base unit’s AC adaptor or telephone line cord
is not connected. Check the connections.
LIf you are using a splitter to connect the unit,
remove the splitter and connect the unit to the wall
jack directly. If the unit operates properly, check
the splitter.
LDisconnect the base unit from the telephone line
and connect the line to a known working
telephone. If the working telephone operates
properly, contact our service personnel to have the
unit repaired. If the working telephone does not
operate properly, contact your service provider/
telephone company.
The indicator on the base
unit flashes.
LNew voice mail messages have been recorded.
Listen to the new voice mail messages (page 34).

The display is in a
language I cannot read.
LChange the display language (page 13).
