Using sound effects

≥When connected with headphones or the Rear Music Port (➜ page 32), Surround Music and the following sound effects may not be available or have no effect. (Excluding Sound Field Control: HEAVY, CLEAR or SOFT)
≥You may experience a reduction in sound quality when these sound effects are used with some sources. If this occurs, turn the sound effects off.
≥If you turn on Dolby Pro Logic II, Sound Field Control (MOVIE, SPORT or MUSIC) is canceled.
Changing the sound quality:
Sound Field Control
To enjoy the following sound quality settings, ensure that Surround Music (➜ page 14) is turned off.
Press [SFC].
Each time you press the button:
FLAT: Cancel (no effect is added) (factory preset).
MOVIE: Use this mode when playing movie software.
SPORT: Simulates sound to make you feel like you are at a sports event.
MUSIC: Adds surround effects to stereo sources.
HEAVY: Adds punch to rock.
CLEAR: Clarifies higher sounds.
SOFT: For background music.
≥To check the current setting, press [SFC].
≥MOVIE, SPORT and MUSIC are not available when Dolby Pro Logic II is on, or when playing a disc recorded with a
≥You can adjust the volume of the surround speakers to get the best surround effect (➜ page 31, Adjusting the volume of each speaker: Speaker level adjustments).
