Using a(Manual Exposure) Mode

You can set the shutter speed and aperture value to capture the picture with creative intent. This mode is convenient for taking pictures using the metered combination of the shutter speed and aperture value or taking intentionally overexposed (brighter) or underexposed (darker) photographs.

1 Set the mode dial to a.2 Turn the e-dial to change the shutter speed/aperture value.

Use the m button to switch between the shutter speed and aperture value. (The default setting is shutter speed.)

3 To use the flash, press the b button.

The flash pops up (p.84).

4 Take the picture. In a mode, EV Compensation is unavailable.[AUTO] cannot be selected for sensitivity.Flash modes ,(Auto) and c (Auto + Red-eye) are not available.

A warning appears if there is a large difference between the current exposure and the proper exposure. If the difference is greater than ±2.0EV, only the exposure warning icon is displayed. If the difference is ±2.0EV or less, the exposure warning icon is displayed and the difference between the current exposure and the proper exposure is shown in increments of 1/3EV.

When the shutter speed is set to a speed slower than 1/4 seconds, a process to reduce image roughness and unevenness (noise reduction) is performed.

When the shutter speed or aperture value is changed, the new value is displayed in a larger font size.

Even when the zoom ratio is changed, the aperture value is maintained. However, when the current aperture value cannot be used with the selected zoom ratio, the closest aperture value is set. In this case, if you change the zoom ratio again and the original aperture value can be used, the setting returns to the original aperture value.
