Region code
A system that allows disc s to be played only
in the region designated . This unit only plays
discs that have compatible re gion codes. You
can find the region code of your u nit on the
product label. Som e discs are compatible wi th
more than one region (or ALL r egions.)

A file format with a sound dat a compression
system. MP3 is the abb reviation of Motion
Picture Exper ts Group 1 (or MPEG-1) Audio

CD-RW can contain ab out 10 times more
data than a regular CD.

RDS (Radio Data System)
RDS tuners can autom atically tune in stat ions
according to the types of mus ic (or talk)
they broadcast. R DS also enables a receiver
to display text messages a nd even graphics
(usually call letters and fo rmat information)
that many FM stations inc lude on a sub-carr ier
signal within their normal broadcast signal.
Some RDS equipped tuner s can even override
with traffic aler ts or emergency br oadcasts,
during playback of other me dia - CD MD, or
cassette. Ther e are other useful feature s too,
many of which are offered by th e growing
number of RDS station s.
