example,a programme currently being shown).
EIfyou want to start and stop a recording manually, read
thesection: ’Recording without automatic switch-off’.
EIfyou want to start a recording manually but have it
stoppedautomatically, read the section: ’Recording with
automaticswitch-off’.
EIfyou want to record a programme currently being
shown,read the section ’Direct record’.
EIfyou want a recording to be controlled automatically by
asatellite receiver, read the section entitled ’Automatic
recordingfrom a satellite receiver’.

Recording without automatic switch-off

aInserta cassette.
bUsethe Pqor Prbuttonto select the programme
numberyou want to record, for example, ’P01’. On the
displayappears:
BBC1
DWhenthe function ’DIRECT RECORD’ is switched
on,the video recorder will automatically record the
TVprogramme selected on the TV set.
DWhena TV channel transmits a channel name, it will
showon the video recorder display.
DProgrammenumbers ’E1’ and ’E2’ are for recording
fromother sources (through scart sockets
EXT.1AV 1 and EXT.2AV 2 ).
cTostart recording, press the RECORD/OTR nbutton on the
remotecontrol or RECORD non thevideo recorder. On
thedisplay you will see:

dStoprecording with the STOP hbutton.

Recording with automatic switch-off

(OTR one-touch-recording)

aPuta cassette in the machine.
bUsethe Pqor Prbuttonto select the programme
numberyou want to record.
cPressthe RECORD/OTR nbutton on the remote control.
dPressthe RECORD/OTR nbutton again and again until the
displayon the video recorder shows the desired end time
orlength of the recording.
DTocancel this information, press the
CLEAR(CL), ybutton.

Protecting your recordings

Sothat you don’t accidentally delete animportantrecording,
removethe special tab on the narrow side of the cassette with
ascrewdriver or slide the special tab to the left. Later, if you
nolonger want to protect your recording, you can seal the gap
againwith sticky tape or slide the special tab to the right.

Auto-assembling

Youcan use the auto-assembling function to join individual
recordingswithout any major picture disturbance between
them.
aWhilethe cassette is playing, search for the correct
positionon the tape.
bStopthe cassette by pressing the STOP hbutton. ’9
willappear in the display.
cNowstart recording as usual by pressing the
RECORD/OTRnbutton on the remote control.

Selecting the recording speed (SP or LP)

Youcan reduce the recording speed by half. This makes it
possibleto record, for example, eight-hours instead of
four-hourson an ’E240’ (four-hour) cassette.
aSwitchon the TV set and, if required,selectthe
programmenumber for the video recorder.
