Technical terms used
Currenttape position : The part of the tape currently being
played.
Externalsource : A device connected via a socket (for
example,scart socket) which is transmitting audio/video
signalsto the video recorder.
Indexmarking : A marking which is automatically made on the
tapeat the beginning of every recording. This marking
(recordingID) can be searched for with the Index search
function.
Scartcable : Also known as a Euro-AV cable. This standard
cableis an easy method of connecting various audio and
videodevices, computer screens andtelevisions. Other
signalsin addition to audio and videosignals can be
transmittedon it.
TVsystem : There are various systems for transmitting
televisionsignals, for example, PAL, SECAM, PAL BG, SECAM
DK,SECAM L/L, NTSC etc. The system used by your television
dependson which country you are in.
TXT: Also knownas Teletext, Fasttext, Videotext, FLOFetc.
OTR: One touch recording. This function enables you to select
theswitch-off time in intervals of 30 minutes.
Modulator: An electronic component in a video recorder
whichallows audio and video signals to be transmitted via the
aerialcable. Your television receives the signal in the same
wayas a signal from a television station.
Modulatorfrequency : This frequency or channel indicates the
frequencyor channel on which the audio or video signal is
transmitted.
UHFfrequency range : Channels 21 to 69. The videorecorder
’broadcasts’on channel 36/frequency 591 MHz.This frequency
orchannel can be changed. See the section ’Reducing picture
disturbance(’optimizing the modulator’).
OSD(On-screen display) : The largest possible display area
forthe video recorder - the screen on your television set.
