Playing a cassette

aPuta cassette into the cassette slot. v’will appear on
thedisplay.
DThecassette is being checked. Wait until the search
symbolin the display has gone out. You can find
moreinformation on the Tape Manager in the
chapter’The Tape Manager (TM)’.
bPressthe PLAYGbutton.
cTostop, press the STOPhbutton.
dToeject the cassette, press the STOP/EJECT ?button
onthe video recorder.
DSomehired cassettes may have a poor picture or
poorsound quality. This is not a fault in your
machine.Please read the section ’Selecting the
picturesetting (SMART PICTURE)’, or ’Eliminating
pictureinterference’.
DSomefunctions switch off automatically after a
while(for example, pause, still picture, picture
search).This helps to protect the cassette and
avoidswasting power.

Playing NTSC cassettes

Withthis set you can playback cassettes that have been
recordedon another video recorder in the NTSC standard (for
example,American cassettes). But this onlyworks for
PAL-televisionsets which are suitable for a picture frequency
of60 Hz.
Whenyou play an NTSC cassette ’60HZ’ will appear on the
display.
DSomespecial features (for example, still picture) are
notpossible while you are playing an NTSC
cassette.

Tape position indication

Bypressing the OK button,you can show the present tape
positionon the TV screen.
aDuringplayback press the COUNTER button.
bSelectone of the following options with the COUNTER
button:
TIME USEDtoindicate the time used on the tape
TIME LEFTtoindicate the time left on the tape
COUNTERtoindicate the actual position on the tape
DToreset the tape position to ’0:00:00’, press the
CLEAR(CL) button.
DThisvideo recorder will automatically recognise the
lengthof the tape.
DWhenyou put in a cassette, the video recorder must
firstcalculate the playing time for ’TIME USED’or
TIME LEFT’.Therefore, the display first shows ’s
andthen shows the playing time after the tape has
beenrunning for a few seconds.
DIfthe video recorder does not find a recording at a
particulartape position with ’COUNTER’ switched
on,the counter will stop.

Searching for tape position with the picture

(picture search)

aWhilea cassette is playing, press the H(reverse)or
I(forward)button once or several times.
bTostop at a certain picture, press the PLAYGbutton.
DDuringpicture search, the picture quality may not be
sogood and there will be no sound.
