Glossary

DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) Server

A DHCP server is a server that allocates IP addresses to hosts (network devices). In most cases, a broadband router serves as a DHCP server in a home network.

Digital audio

An indirect representation of sound by numbers. During recording, the sound is measured at discrete intervals by an analog-to-digital converter, generating a stream of numbers.
