9 Additional Information

Understanding display messages

Below is a list of messages you’ll see during normal operation with a brief explanation of what they mean. If you need more information, turn to the page indicated.

Message	Description		Page
OPEN	The disc tray is open.
CLOSE	The disc tray is closing.
NEW DISC	A blank disc is loaded.		p. 5
NO DISC	An attempt is made to start	playback without a disc loaded.
SET UP	The unit is setting up for recording. Wait for the message to disappear.
TOC READ	The recorder is reading the disc’ s TOC (Table of Contents). Wait for the
	message to disappear.
SYNCÐ1	The unit is in 1-track synchro recording mode. Recording starts when the		p. 40–41
	recorder detects a source input signal.
SYNCÐALL	The unit is in all-track synchro recording mode. Recording starts when the		p. 40–41
	recorder detects a source input signal.
MONITOR	The recorder is monitoring the input selected with the INPUT button.		p. 39
CD	The recorder displays the source it is monitoring (CD, MD, DAT DVD, or		p. 39
(MD, DAT, DVD,	DCC) during record setup.

PMA REC	The recorder is writing TOC data to the disc’ s PMA (Program Memory		p. 45
	Area). Never turn off the power while this display is showing.
SKIP SET ?	Confirm that you want to set a skip ID by pressing the		p. 34
	SKIP SET button.
SKIP CLR ?	Confirm that you want to clear a skip ID by pressing the		p. 35
	SKIP CLEAR button.
ERASE TOC ?	Confirm that you want to erase the TOC of a finalized CD–RW disc to		p. 32–33
	return it to a non-finalized state. After doing this, you can record more
	material on the disc.
ERASE ALL ?	Confirm that you want to erase all tracks recorded on a CD–RW disc by		p. 32–33
	pressing 6.
INITIALIZE ?	Confirm that you want to re-initialize the CD–RW disc by pressing 6.		p. 32–33
ERASE LAST ?	Confirm that you want to delete the last track on a CD-RW disc by pressing		p. 32–33

OPTICAL	The recorder shows the current input mode —digital or analog. Switch		p. 39–41
