Networking/daisy-chaining multiple Changers

PowerFile DVD/CD Changers are IEEE 1394 (FireWire) devices. All 1394 devices are hot- swappable and can be daisy-chained, up to a theoretical maximum of 63 devices (in a tree configuration), and with a maximum of no more than 6 'hops' from the host system.

PowerFile strongly recommends no more than 10 Changers be connected to any one host system, and that all Changers should be configured in a tree configuration to minimize the number of 'hops' from a Changer to the host system.

The diagram below shows 6 Changers connected in a 'tree' configuration to a single host. Note that in this configuration no Changer is more than 3 hops away from the host system.

Using this tree configuration, you could connect 10 Changers a host system (the PowerFile recommended maximum) and no Changer would be more than 4 hops away from the host system.
