1.The computer indicates “Keyboard error” during start-up or booting

Possible Causes and Solutions:

1.1The keyboard is not plugged properly.

Check if the keyboard cable is securely plugged into the keyboard PS/2 port (USB or RS232 if applicable). If you have another device connected on the PS/2 port, shut down your computer, replace it for the preh keyboard and retest.

1.2The Keyboard interface is incorrect.

The keyboard can have the wrong interface as a setting, please reset the keyboard by following the instructions at “How to reset preh keyboards” page 7.

1.3Timing problems between the computer and the keyboard.

When the computer boots up, it checks up the keyboard and tries to initialize it. If the keyboard is not detected, then an error is generated. There might be more than one solution for this problem.

Solution 1: Please see “How to turn off the unnecessary modules” on page 18 and follow the instructions. Restart the computer and test.

Solution 2: Please see “How to deactivate the Bios keyboard initialization” on page 17 and follow the instructions. Restart the computer and test.

Solution 3: There might be an incompatibility between your computer and the keyboard, or you might have an old firmware version that is not compatible with your computer. Please contact Preh technical support for information. If you have a scanner or any other device connected to the keyboard, please read point 3.

2.The keyboard beeps when any key is pressed and sends no data to the computer.

Possible Causes and Solutions:

2.1A fault has occurred during the transmission of the keyboard assignment table.

Please see “How to reset the preh keyboards” on page 7 and test.

2.2The contents of the EEPROM have been modified.

Please see “How to reset the preh keyboards” on page 7 and test.
