Connecting to an Audio Device

Using an Optical (Digital) or Audio (Analog) Cable Connection
Available devices: Digital Audio System, Amplifier, DVD home theater

When a Digital Audio System i s connected to the DIGITAL AUDIO OUT (OPT ICAL) jack, decrease the volum e
of both the TV and the system.

5.1 CH (channel) audio is available when the T V is connected to an external d evice supporting 5.1 CH.

When the receiver (home th eater) is set to on, you can hear sound outp ut from the TV’s optical jack. Whe n the
TV is receiving a DTV si gnal, the TV will send 5.1 CH sound to the amplif ier or DVD home theater. When the
source is a digital compon ent such as a DVD / Blu-ray player / cable b ox / STB (Set-Top-Box) satellite receiver
and is connected to the TV via H DMI, only 2 CH audio will be heard f rom the amplifier or DVD home the ater. If
you want to hear 5.1 CH audio, connect the digital au dio out jack from your DVD / Blu-ray playe r / cable box /
STB satellite receiver directl y to an amplifier or home theater.
AUDIO OUT: Connects to the audio input jac ks on your amplifier/DVD home theate r.

When connecting, use the ap propriate connector.

When an audio amplifie r is connected to the AUDIO OUT jacks: De crease the volume of the TV and ad just the
volume level with the amplif ier’s volume control.
