OPERATION OFTHE DISPLAYS
TIME Display
when the console is inthe manualmode, thisdisplay
will show thetotal time that the waJkingbell has been
moving. (If the treadmill isrun for longerthan g9 min-
utes and 59seconds, thedisplay will resetto zero
and the treadmillwill slow to astop.)
If desired,a time goal san be sot. To set a time goal,
firststop the walkingbell Next, pressthe TIME SET
buttons to set the lengthof time that you plan to exer-
cise. Each timeone ofthe buttons ispressed, the time
goal will change byI minute. The buttonssan be held
down to set a time goal rapidly. While thewalking belt
ismoving, thedisplay willcount down the time goal.
When notime remains, thewalking beltwill slow to a
stop.
When theconsole is inthe programmable mode, the
display willshow the timeremaining inthe program.
DISTANCE/CALORIES Display
Press the MODE button below the DISTANCE/CALO-
RIES display toselect the desired mode. An indicator
willlight to showwhich mode you have selected.
When the DISTANCE mode isselected, thedisplay
willshow thetotal distancethat youhave walked or
run, in miles.
When the CALORIES mode is selected, thedisplay
will show the approximate number ofnutritional
Calories that you have bumod.
SPEEDdisplay
This display shows the current speed of the walking
belt, inmiles perhour.
PULSEDisplay
This display shows yourheart rate. To use the pulse
display, first stand on the foot roilsand place your
thumb on the pulse sensor asshown above. The pulse
sensor ispressure-acfivatod. Fully press down the
sensor. Do not press too herd, or theelrcutetlon In
your thumb will be restricted, and your pulse will
not be detected. Next, slightly raise your thumb until
the heart-shaped indicator nextto the PULSE display
flashes stsodily. Hold your thumb at this level. After 5
to 10 seconds, your pulse will be displayed. If the dis-
played pulse appears to be too high ortoo low, or if
your pulseis not displayed, liftyour thumb off the sen-
sor and allow the display to reset. Press down again
on the sensor as described above. Make sure that
your thumb is positionedas shown, and that you are
applyingthe proper amount of pressure to the sensor.
Try the pulse sensor several times until you become
familiarwith it.
Another method of finding your pulse is to gently press
down onthe sensor until the topof the sensor is just
above the surface of the console. Do not press too
hard, or the elreuletlon In your thumb will be
restricted, and your pulse will not be detected.
After a few seconds, the heart-shaped indicatorwill
flash each time your heart beats. After another 5 to 10
seconds, your pulse will be displayed. If your pulseis
notdisplayed, make sure that your thumb is positioned
as shown, and that you are applying the proper
amount of pressure to the sensor. Remember to stand
still while measuring your pulse.
HOW TO TURN OFFTHE POWER
To tum oft the power, remove the safety key from the
console. Store the safety key in a secure location.
