Uplink Connections

NETWORK PLANNING

Uplink Connections

The switch provides 24 downlink fiber ports, two combo RJ-45/SFP uplink ports built into the switch, and two slots for optional combo RJ-45/ SFP modules. The uplink ports can be trunked together to provide a high-bandwidth connection to a core switch or router at the CO. Besides balancing the load across each port in the trunk, the additional port provides redundancy by taking over the load if the other trunk port fails.

The figure below illustrates a trunk connection to other switches.
