DAB1 DISTRIBUTED AUDIO SYSTEM

Appendix 1: “Party Mode”

“Party Mode” allows all zones in the system to be turned-on when any zone is turned ON with a PRESS-AND-HOLD of a
Source button. The selected source component will then play in all zones.
Party Mode works in a system with a single DAB1, or in a large system with multiple DAB1s (or a combination of DAB1s
and C4630 SEs) that are connected via the SYNC connections (see
Sync Connections
, on page 16). When Party Mode is
activated in a multi-unit system, Source and Paging audio signals and source component IR control codes will be shared
between all the zones in all connected units. All zone and system functions with the exception of PROGRAMMED IR will
function the same as on a system with a single DAB1.
To be included in Party Mode operation, a zone must first be enabled for it in the Sonance Control Manager’s ZONE SETUP
screen (see
Setting Up a Zone
, on page 32). This allows certain zones (such as a nursery or office) to be excluded from
Party Mode operation.

Programming the DAB1 to Turn All Zones OFF in Systems Incorporating Multiple DAB1s

In a system with multiple DAB1s (or a combination of DAB1s and C4630 SEs), selecting any Source component in any zone
with a PRESS-AND-HOLD will activate Party Mode for
all zones in the system, no matter which DAB1 they are
associated with.
In Party Mode, using a PRESS-AND-HOLD of a ZONE OFF
button to turn any enabled zone OFF will only turn-OFF the
zones associated with that individual DAB1. In a system
with multiple DAB1s, the macro to turn all zones OFF with
a PRESS-AND-HOLD of the ZONE OFF button must be
programmed into one zone’s keypad controller. Once
programmed, this command will work globally for all zones
on all DAB1s that are linked via their SYNC connections.
To program all Party Mode zones to turn OFF:
1. Launch the Sonance Control Manager software. If you
have already created a Project File for the system, open
it. If not, create a new Project File.
2. Select one of the DAB1s appearing in the system and
under ACTIONS, select PRESS AND HOLD.
3. Click on the OFF (ZONE OFF) button. The MACRO EDITOR
will open.
