Cleaning the video head

Toensurenormalrecordingandclearpictures,cleanthevideoheads.Thevideohead maybedirtywhen:

•The x indicator and “ CLEANING CASSETTE” message appear one after another orthe xindicatorflashesontheLCDscreenorintheviewfinder.

•Playbackpicturescontainnoise. •Playbackpicturesarehardlyvisible. •Playbackpicturesdonotappear.

Ifthishappens,cleanthevideoheadswiththeSonyV8-25CLDcleaningcassette(not supplied).

Note on video heads

Whentheplaybackpicturesarestillcontainnoiseevenifyouhavecleanedthevideo headswithacleaningcassette,thevideoheadsmayhaveworndownduetolonguse.If thisisthecase,theymustbereplacedwithnewheads.ContactyourSonydealeror localauthorizedSonyservicefacility.

Cleaning the LCD screen

If fingerprints or dust make the LCD screen dirty, we recommend using a LCD Cleaning Kit (not supplied) to clean the LCD screen.

Removing dust from inside the viewfinder

(1) 1 Remove the screw with a screwdriver (not supplied). 2 Then, while holding the RELEASE knob up, 3 turn the eyecup in a counterclockwise direction and pull it out.

(2) Clean the surface with a commercially available blower for a still camera.

(3) Turn the eyecup in a clockwise direction, then replace the screw.

Caution

Donotremoveanyotherscrews.Youmayremoveonlythescrewtoremovethe eyecup.
