PrecautionsThis section describes safety guidelines and pre cautions to help you protect your computer from pot e nti al
damage.
Your notebook and memory m odules use high precision c omponents and electronic conn ectors technology.
To avoid the invalidation of your guarantee by mishandling, it is recommended that:
You contact your dealer to install a new memory module.
You do not install it yourself, if you are not familiar with upgrading m emory on a notebook.
You do not touch the connectors or open the memory panel.

Adding memory
In the future you may want to install memory modules to expand the functionality of your notebook.
Depending on the model you purchased, eithe r 128 MB of memory is preinstalled in one of the two avail able
memory module bays (128 MB x 1), or 256 MB of memory is preinstalled utilizing both memory module bays
(128 MB x 2). You can replace both memory modules with optional 256 MB memory modules to increase
memory up to 512 MB. F o r mem ory upgrad es, use only PC133 (CL2) SDRAM SO-DIMMs (gold leaf contacts).
Electrostatic discharge can damage electronic components. Befo re touching a memory expansion board,
ensure the following:
Handle the memory module gently.
The procedures described in this document assume familiarity with the general terminol ogy a sso ci ated
with personal computers and with the safety pra ctices and regulatory compliance required for u sing and
modifying electronic equipment.
Disconnect the system from its power source and from any telecom m u ni ca tion links, networks, or
modems before you open the system. Failure to do so may result in personal injury or equipment
damage.
