Entering characters using an external keyboard
NOTE
Always connect and disconnect the keyboard with the
power to the CD-RW402 turned OFF. There is a risk of
damage to the CD-RW402 if this connection is made or
broken with the power turned on.
Set the keyboard type to either English (d efault) or
Japanese (“Keyboard preferences” on page15.
•Type in letters and symbols using the keyboard.
The cursor moves automatically when a c haracter
is entered.
•The keyboard [Shift] keys can be used to shift
between lowercase and uppercase characters (and
shifted punctuation).
•The [Esc] key can be used into clear the entered
text.
•The [Enter] key here is equivalent to the FINALIZE
key.
•The [Up] and [Down] arrow keys are equivalent to
turning the MULTI DIAL for drive 2 ([Up] = clock-
wise, [Down] = counterclockwise).
•The [Left] and [Right] cursor keys are equivalent to
the SEARCH keys (cursor movement).
•The [Backspace] key deletes the character to the
left of the cursor and the [Delete] key deletes the
character at the cursor.
•The [Insert] key inserts a space at the cursor
position.
•The [Print Screen] key copies the currently-dis -
played text.
•The [Scroll Lock] key pastes the copied text.
There are other keyboard commands for the trans-
port, etc. These are explained in th e next section.
Entering titles
1Press the MENU key and turn the MULTI DIAL
until the display shows CDTEXT ?. Push the
MULTI DIAL.
2Turn the MULTI DIAL so that the display
shows TITLE EDIT? and push the MULTI DIAL.
If a keyboard is connected, [Shift] + [F11]
also allows title editing.
3Now the display shows T_EDIT> xxxx, where xxxx
can be DISC or a track number (1

through

Tr
). Turn the MULTI DIAL to select the item
to be titled and push the MULTI DIAL.
4Edit the title as described above, and when
finished, press the FINALIZE (YES) key to set
this item title.
The next item is then shown, ready to be
selected and for a title to be entered.
5Repeat this process for all titles, and press
STOP when finished.
Entering artists
The procedure for entering artists is almost identical
to the procedure described above for entering titles.
NOTE
Although this is described as the “artist” field, it can
actually be used for anything: the date and time of the
session, the location, even the microphone type, etc.
Remember, though that each title and artist field
together cannot be more than 80 characters long, and
there is a limit of 2900 characters per disc.
1Press the MENU key and turn the MULTI DIAL
until the display shows CDTEXT ?. Push the
MULTI DIAL.
2Turn the MULTI DIAL so that the display
shows ARTIST EDIT? and push the MULTI DIAL.
If a keyboard is connected, [Shift] + [F12]
also allows artist editing.
3Now the display shows A_EDIT> xxxx, where xxxx
can be DISC or a track number (1

). Turn the MULTI DIAL to select the item
to have this field entered, and push the MULTI
DIAL.
4Edit the artist field as described above, and
when finished, press the FINALIZE (YES) key
to set this item’s artist field.
The next item is then shown, ready to be
selected and for the field to be entered.
5Repeat this process for all artist fields, and
press STOP when finished.
