Changing the backup battery

CAUTION

The power turns off if the backup battery source does not have enough charge. In this case, all recordings, settings and other data will be lost.

Changing batteries when the power is on

If both the lithium ion battery and AA batteries are installed, you can change batteries while continuing to record and use other functions.

NOTE

In the following sections, for simplicity we refer to the main "battery" and backup "battery," even though the unit uses two AA batteries. Both AA batteries should be changed together.

Changing the main battery

Before changing the main battery, confirm that its charge has become low enough that power has switched to the backup battery.

The unit turns OFF if you remove the main battery while it is being used.

If you must change the main battery even though it is in use, change the setting so that the backup battery becomes the main battery and confirm this operation on the Home Screen first.

Confirm that the replaced battery is installed properly before changing the unit setting to make it the main battery.

CAUTION

If the backup battery charge becomes less than a certain level, you can change the MAIN setting. However, the power source does not change while the unit is recording.

You can change the backup battery at any time when the main battery is in use, but you should confirm on the Home Screen that the main battery has enough remaining charge.

The unit turns OFF if you remove the backup battery while it is being used.

Setting the type of AA batteries

(AA BATTERY)

You should set the type of AA batteries that you are using. This setting is used to show the amount of remaining battery charge and determine if the unit has enough power for normal operation.

1Press the MENU key to open the MENUscreen.

2Use the wheel to select SETUP, and press the

ENTER/MARK key

3 Use the AA TYPEitem to set the type.
