Solving Reception Problems

The Wireless RainSensor has an operating range of 500' (152.4m) LOS (Line-of-Site).

Note: Line-of-Site is a radio signal transmission measurement standard equivalent to an open field site with no obstructions.

However, in most cases, there are buildings or other objects between the sensor and receiver modules that can reduce signal strength. Most residential and light commercial buildings do not reduce the signal enough to pose problems under normal conditions. However, there are some structures with very thick, dense walls, or that involve large amounts of radio frequency interference due to electronic equipment that can reduce the sensor signal range.

To improve signal strength:

Move the antenna away from any large metal object.

Avoid indoor receiver locations where cellular or cordless phones have trouble with reception.

Mount the sensor and receiver modules as close together as possible.

Move the sensor module to one side if is installed directly over the receiver module.
