3.1 The Diagnostic Test

This chapter explains how to use the Test & Diagnostic program to test the functions of the
computer’s hardware modules. The Test & Diagnostic Program is stored on the T&D diskettes.
The program consists of a series of tests that run automatically when the Diagnostics Program
items are selected and executed.
NOTES: To start the diagnostics, follow these steps
1. Check all cables for loose connections.
2. Exit this program when you are at Main Menu.
The TEST & DIAGNOSTIC PROGRAM contains the following functional tests:
CONFIG CHECK TEST
DMI CHECK TEST
PIO LOOPBACK TEST
IEEE1394 TEST
SPEAKER AUDIO TEST
FAN ON/OFF TEST
MAIN BATTERY CHARGE TEST
FDD TEST
CD-ROM TEST
KEYBOARD TEST
MOUSE(PAD) TEST
LCD PIXELS MODE TEST
LID SWITCH TEST
HDD R/W TEST
LAN TEST
RTC TEST
You will need the following equipment to perform some of the Diagnostic test programs.
The diagnostics diskette (2 pcs)
A printer loopback connector (PIO Loopback Test)
A formatted working diskette for the floppy disk drive test (Floppy Disk Drive Test)
A data CD disc (CD-ROM Test)
A LAN loopback connector (LAN Test)
IEEE1394 Link Cable
