FT-60R OPERATING MANUAL62

MONO BAND OPERATION
You may place the radio in a “VHF Only” or “UHF Only” mode which will cause it to
function as a 144 MHz or 430 MHz Mono band transceiver.
To place the radio into the Mono band operation configuration:
1. Turn the radio off.
2. Press and hold in the MONI switch (just below the PTT switch) while turning the
radio on.
3. Rotate the DIAL knob to select the configuration mode menu:
F6 V-ONLY: The FT-60R will operate on the 144 MHz band
only.
F7 U-ONLY: The FT-60R will operate on the 430 MHz band
only.
4. Press the [F/W] key momentarily.
To return to normal operation, press and hold in the MONI switch while turning the radio
on, and then press the [F/W] key momentarily.
CHANGING THE TX DEVIATION LEVEL
In many areas of the world, channel congestion has required that operating channels be
closely spaced. In such operating environments, it often is required that operators use
reduced deviation levels, so as to reduce the potential for interference to users on adjacent
channels. The FT-60R includes a simple method of accomplishing this:
1. Press the [F/W] key, then press the [0( )SET] key to enter the Set mode.
2. Rotate the DIAL knob to select Set Mode Item 55: WID.NAR.
3. Press the [F/W] key momentarily to enable adjustment of this
Set Mode Item.
4. Rotate the DIAL knob to set this Set Mode Item to “NARROW.”
In this configuration (HALF DEVIATION active), the
transmitter’s deviation will be approximately ±2.5 kHz, and the
received audio output level will be increased, for easier listening on the narrow signal.
5. When you have made your selection, press the PTT switch to save the new setting and
exit to normal operation.
The “normal” setting for the deviation (when this Menu Item is set to WIDE) is ±5 kHz.
