Getting started
When the screen shows LOW BATTERY, the backlight i s disabled
(except the speakerphone and voicem ail lights).
If the handset will not be used for a l ong time, disconnect and remove the
battery to prevent possible l eakage.

Battery installation and c harging
Install the battery as shown bel ow. After installing the battery, you may be able
to make and receive short calls. For bes t performance, charge the handset
for at least 16 hours before use. When not in use, place the han dset in the
telephone base or charger. See page 31 for battery op erating times.

If the battery compartm ent cover is on the handset, press the indentation
and slide the cover to remove.
Plug the battery connector se curely into the socket inside the handset
battery compartment , matching the color-coded label.
Place the battery with the labe l THIS SIDE UP facing up and the wires ins ide
the battery compartm ent.
Align the cover at against the batter y compartment, then slide it towards the
center of the handset until it clicks into p lace.
Charge the handset by placing it in the tele phone base or charger. The
CHARGE light is on when the hand set charges.
