Operation
This chapter gives information on day to day use of the RS-1612 rack system. Most of what you will do with the rack involves configuring or setting modems or network administration. These topics are covered in detail in the U-336R/RE and ZyViewII User's Guides. They are not covered in this manual except to expound on, or point out exceptions to the other manual information.
The RS-1612 Menu Tree
The RS-1612 rack system control panel lets you configure each modem in the rack and the rack itself. A detailed menu tree containing the operations needed to set all the modems in the system. See the Menu Tree Guide included with the RS-1612 for details.
The RS-1612 display includes:
∙Rack Slot Menu - The Rack Slot Menu shows the status of each slot in the rack.
∙Modem Menu - The Modem Menu is the first display leading to the modem setting menus as seen in the Menu Tree Guide.
∙Main Display - The Main Display shows the name of the rack, version number, and rack’s IP address.
∙Message Display - The message display shows short messages sent to the rack by the supervisor using the ZyView NMS, and the rack’s IP address.
