TROUBLE SHOOTING

Possible Cause

LACK OF POWER

Air cleaner clogged

Service the air cleaner element. Refer to “MAINTE-

 

NANCE.”

Engine overload

Reduce the load.

Engine overheated

Make sure the air intake screen, shrouding, engine fins, side

 

panels, dash intake screen and grille are free of

 

accumulated dirt and debris. Refer to “MAINTENANCE.”

Fuel tank air vent clogged

Remove obstruction from the vent in the fuel tank cap.

Air leakage between carburetor and engine

Remove air cleaner. Tighten the carburetor and manifold

 

mounting nuts. Replace any damaged parts as indicated in

 

“MAINTENANCE.”

Incorrect timing or faulty ignition

Brake dragging

Adjust the brake. Refer to “ADJUSTMENTS.”

Insufficient cooling air — dirt or debris clogging the:

air intake screen • shrouds • cooling fins • side

 

panels • dash intake screen • or grille

Keep the air intake area, side panels, grille, dash intake

 

screen and cooling fins clean; refer to “MAINTENANCE.”

Oil level incorrect

Engine oil level must not be over the “FULL” mark or below

 

the “LOW” mark on dipstick. Refer to “MAINTENANCE.”
