Problem Solving
CAUTION: Turn off the switch and unplug the electrical cord before servicing.
Problem | Cause | Solution |

Motor will not start. | Power Plug | • Push plug securely into outlet. |
|
| • Try another outlet. |
|
| • Check circuit breaker. |
| On/Off Switch | • Press on/off switch. |
| Thermal Cut Off | • Refer to page 5. |

|
|
Motor suddenly stops. | Thermal Cut Off | • Refer to page 5. |
|
|
|
Does not clean carpet or bare floor | Dust Cup and Filter(s) | • Empty the dust cup. Clean or change the filter. |
|
| Clean the filter screen. Hint: If picking up fine |
|
| dust, the dust cup may not look full, but a fine |
|
| substance tends to reduce suction when it blocks |
|
| airflow through the filter. Make sure the filter is |
|
| clean and properly installed. |
| Belt | • Replace a cut, or out of shape belt. |
| Brush Roll | • Clean hair and thread from bristles and end cap |
|
| area. Replace brush roll if bristles are worn. |
| Hose | • Remove any clogs from the hose. See page 13. |
| Clear blockage | • Remove blockage. See page 13. |

|
No suction at the end of the hose | Dust Cup and Filter(s) | • Empty the dust cup. Clean or change the filter. |
|
| Clean the filter screen. Hint: If picking up fine dust, |
|
| the dust cup may not look full, but a fine substance |
|
| tends to reduce suction when it blocks airflow |
|
| through the filter. Make sure the filter is clean and |
|
| properly installed. |
| Hose | • Remove any clogs from the hose. See page 13. |
