10. Cleaning and storage
■CLEANING
WARNING
Always turn off your trimmer before you clan or perform any maintenance on it.
Use a small brush to clean off the outside of the unit. Do not use strong detergents on plastic housing or handle. They can be damaged by household cleaners that contain aromatic oils such as pine and lemon, and by solvents such as kerosene. Wipe off any moisture with a soft cloth.
■STORAGE
If the unit will be stored for an extended period of time, use the following storage procedure.
1.Drain all fuel from the fuel tank into a container.
Do not use fuel that has been stored for more than 60 days . Dispose of the old fuel in accordance to Federal, State and Local regulations.
2.Start the engine and allow it to run until it stalls. This ensures that all fuel has been drained from the carburetor.
3.Allow the engine to cool. Change the oil (see page15). Remove the spark plug and put approximately 0.1oz (3ml) of any high quality motor oil or
4.Pull the starter rope slowly to the position felt resistance by compression.
5.Reinstall the spark plug.
6.Thoroughly clean the unit inspect for any loose or damaged parts. Repair or replace damaged parts and tighten loose screws, nuts or bolts. The unit is now ready for storage.
IMPORTANT
When storing the unit, stand up the unit as to the engine is upwards.
NOTE
Remove the spark plug and drain all of the oil from the cylinder before attempting to start the trimmer after storage.
