OPERATION

NOTE: This snow thrower was shipped WiTH OiL in the engine. See "Before Starting Engine" instructions in the OPERATIONsection of this manual before starting engine.

WARNING:The operation of any snow thrower can result in foreign objects being thrown into the eyes, which can result in severe eye damage. Always wear safety glasses or eye shields beforebeginningsnow thrower operation. We recommend

standard safety glasses or Wide Vision Safety Mask over spectacles.

OPERATETHE SNOWTHROWER

Themosteffectiveuseof thesnowthrowerwill beestablishedbyexperi- ence,takinginto considerationtheterrain,windconditions,andbuilding locationwhichwill determinethedirectionof thedischargechute.

NOTICE:Do not throwsnowtoward a buildingas hiddenobjects could be thrownwith sufficient force to causedamage.

1.StarttheengineSee"ToStartEngine".inthis section.

2.Rotatethecrank(A, Figure12)to setthedirection(leftor right)of the dischargechute.

3.AdjustthesnowchutedeflectorLoosenthewingnut. (A,Figure14)on thesideof thesnowchuteandraisethechutedeflectorfor more

distance,or lowerit for lessdistanceThentightenthewing. nut.

5.Engagetheaugerdriveclutchlever(A,Figure15).

6.Engagethetractiondriveclutchlever(B).Asthesnowthrowerstarts to move,maintainafirm holdonthehandlesandguidethesnow

throweralongthecuttingpath.Donotattemptto pushthesnow thrower.

7.Tostopforwardmotion,releasethetractiondriveclutchlever(B).

NOTE:Always release the tractioncontrol lever beforemoving the speed select lever.

4.Usethespeedselectlever(A, Figure12)to selecttheforwarddrive speed.Setthespeedselectleverto oneof thefollowingpositionsas determinedby snowconditions:

1-2 Wet,Heavy,Slushy,ExtraDeep

3 Moderate

4-5 VeryLight

6 Transport

NOTE:When clearing wet, heavy, snow, it is recommended that the ground speed of the unit be reduced, maintain full throttle, and do not attempt to clear the full width of the unit.

9.Tomovethesnowthrowerbackwards,movethespeedselectlever(A,Fig- ure12)intofirstorsecondreverse(R1orR2),andengagethetractiondrive clutchlever(B,Figure15).
