Preface

This preface describes the audience, organization, and conventions of the Cisco MDS 9100 Series Hardware Installation Guide. It also provides information on how to obtain related documentation.

Audience

To use this installation guide, you need to be familiar with electronic circuitry and wiring practices and preferably be an electronic or electromechanical technician.

Organization

This guide is organized as follows:

Appendix A	Cabinet and Rack	Provides guidelines for selecting an
	Installation	enclosed cabinet, and the procedure for
		installing a switch using the optional Telco
		and EIA Shelf Bracket Kit.

Appendix B	Technical	Lists the Cisco MDS 9100 Series switch
	Specifications	specifications, and includes safety
		information, site requirements, and power
		connections.
