1.3.2. Connecting other Wireless Clients

Before you connect Before associating and registering further WLAN clients, it is recommended that you other WLAN clients first proceed with the configuration setup procedures as described in section

“1.4 SpeedTouch™570 Configuration Setup” on page 18.

For enhanced security, after going through the SpeedTouch™570 configuration setup procedures, you are able to “personalize” the SpeedTouch™570 Wireless configuration by configuring another SSID, and optionally enabling WEP encryption.

After re-associating the first WLAN client adapter with the “personalized” Wireless configuration, you can register the remaining WLAN clients allowed to join your WLAN.

For more information on the configuration of the SpeedTouch™570 Wireless configu- ration, see chapter “2 SpeedTouch™570 Web Interface” on page 29.

Preconditions Make sure that:

The SpeedTouch™570 is powered on and ready for service.

The SpeedTouch™570 has been configured by the SpeedTouch™ Setup wizard or via uploading the appropriate configuration profile file.

Optionally, the SpeedTouch™570 WLAN settings have been personalized. Further make sure that:

The WLAN client adapter is installed on your computer.

Depending on the personalized WLAN configuration:

In case WEP encryption is enabled on the SpeedTouch™570 , you must configure the WLAN client for using the same WEP key.

Configure the WLAN client for the SpeedTouch™570 SSID, hence associated to the SpeedTouch™570 WLAN.

Depending on the registration button and Access Control List configuration:

In case the registration button is disabled and the Access Control List unlocked, no further actions are needed for the WLAN client to access the SpeedTouch™570 WLAN network.

In case the registration button is disabled and the Access Control List locked, you must manually add the WLAN client to the Access Control List as described in “ Wireless” on page 40.

In case the registration button is enabled and the Access Control List locked, you must follow the procedure below to register the WLAN client to the SpeedTouch™570 Access Control List.
