Chapter 3: Replacing pre-installed components

3.1Introduction

This chapter describes how to replace all the pre-installed components of your B4881V50S4H, including PCI-X cards, motherboard, CD-ROM drive, and floppy disk drive. There is also a section covering the replacement of the SATA back- plane.

Before you attempt to replace any components, make sure you have read section 2.1 Before you begin, in chapter 2, which describes the precautions you need to take and the tools you will require.

3.2Replacing motherboard components

This section describes how to replace pre-installed mother- board components.

3.2.1Disconnecting all motherboard cables

When replacing the motherboard, CPU board or certain motherboard or CPU board components, it may be necessary to remove cables. Follow these instructions to remove all motherboard and CPU board cabling.

Power cables

Disconnect all the power cables as shown.
