pcAnywhere. Having it installed does not pose a security risk; it must be up and running, and be configured to receive calls, before a remote user can enter the system. In addition, pcAnywhere offers a number of security features.
Follow these guidelines to protect PCs with pcAnywhere installed:
1Unplug the modem from the phone jack when pcAnywhere is not in use.
2Only run pcAnywhere when necessary.
3Do NOT publish the phone number for the modem that people use to access the computer.
4Change your password after Avaya personnel leave your site and after Avaya personnel terminate a remote service session.
5Configure the following pcAnywhere security options:
aRequire login names for callers.
bMake passwords case sensitive.
cLog all failed connection attempts.
dSet a maximum number of login attempts per call.
eAllow time to enter the complete login.
fDisconnect if inactive.
6Configure pcAnywhere to log remote call and online sessions.
