between 0 and 65000 (65 seconds). See chapter 2 for a full description of these Timeout values.

Initial Connections:

When selected, the Initial Connections button provides a selection of ports to be connected when the unit is powered up.

When the switch is set for Smart Switch Only mode (no Auto Select), the Master to Slave communications (individual or broadcast) can be initialized to any or all of the four slave ports. One of the Slaves can also have access to the Master on power-up.

When in Auto Select mode, the Master can still be initialized to transmit data to the Slaves, but Slave to Master communications is handled through automatic switching and cannot be initialized.

Master Port Configuration:

This button displays the parameters for the Master Port, including Data Rate, the number of Data Bits, Parity, and if the port requires handshaking.

Slave Ports A – D Configuration:

This button displays the parameters for the Slave Port, including Data Rate, the number of Data Bits, Parity, and if the port requires handshaking. The port’s preamble characters are also defined here.

Read Module Configuration:

This button will read the configuration from the connected 232BSS4. The 232BSS4 is read upon entering the Main Screen, so it should not have to be read again unless it is necessary to set the parameters back after changing.

View Module Configuration:

This button will display all current module parameters on one screen for review. Any changes to the currently connected switch that have not been saved will be shown in Red. The page can then be printed to the default Windows printer for review or for attachment to the switch.
