6.3.4Access a Shared Printer
When a printer is connected to the USB port on the Ericsson W3x, information about the device is displayed on the Sharing page
If you connect a USB printer directly to your PC, the printer device type and brand will normally be automatically detected and a printer driver assigned and installed. This is not the case when using a network shared USB printer connected to your Ericsson W3x.
On the PCs that should use the printer, install the correct printer driver compatible with the PCs operating system. The printer driver is found either on the discs that were shipped with your printer or by downloading it from the manufacturers web page.
The Ericsson W3x supports two protocols for printing: Samba and RAW. The protocol that is used may vary depending on printer and manufacturer. It also affects how to access the printer via the Ericsson W3x.
The following sections include instructions on how to access a shared printer from a PC using Windows XP or 2000.
