A printout is unclear, faded

A printout is unclear, faded

The following conditions could cause unclear or faded printing.

Printed output which is faded or streaked with while could be caused by the following conditions:

Print media was not loaded with the print side up.

Ink has run out in one of the ink tanks.

BJ Print Head nozzles are clogged.

The BJ Print Head is worn out or damaged. Follow the procedures below to correct the problem.

Summary of correcting the problem

Was the media loaded with the print side up?

Special media must be loaded with the correct print side up.

Yes

No

Set the media correctly

Ink tank(s) out of ink?

Check the amount of ink remaining in each tank. If an ink tank is empty, replace it.

Yes

No

Replace the empty ink tank

BJ Print Head nozzles clogged or damaged?

Did you check the ink tanks?

Fading or streaking is usually a sign that ink supply is low in one or more of the ink tanks. Check the ink level in the ink tanks. If an ink tank is empty, replace it.

If the printer beeps four times, one or more of the ink tanks has run out of ink. Replace the empty ink tank (s).

If printed images are faded in spite of a sufficient ink supply, the nozzles of the print Memo

head could be clogged or the BJ Print Head could be wom or damaged.

Print a nozzle check pattern. (P.68)

Clean the print head. (P.70)

If the nozzle check is not crisp and clear, clean the print head and print another nozzle check pattern.

Execute print head deep cleaning. (P.72)

If the nozzle check pattern is not crisp and clear, perform print head deep cleaning and print another nozzle check pattern.

Contact the Canon Customer Care Center. You may need to replace the BJ Print Head. (P.77)

Windows

In the BJ Status Monitor, click the Ink Information tab and check the level in the ink tanks.

If you cannot display the BJ Status Monitor in your system, open the front cover and remove each ink tank one by one to check the ink level visually.

Macintosh

Open the BJ Print Monitor to see if a low ink alert is displayed.

If you cannot display the BJ Print Monitor in your system, open the front cover and remove each ink tank one by one to check the ink level visually.
