Replacing the System Board

Procedure

1Gently place the system board into the chassis and slide it towards the back of the computer.

2Replace the screws that secure the system board to the chassis.

3Route and connect the cables that you disconnected from the system board.

Postrequisites

1Replace the processor. See "Replacing the Processor" on page 67.

2Replace the processor fan and heat-sink assembly. See "Replacing the Processor Fan and Heat-Sink" on page 64.

3Replace the graphics card. See "Replacing the Graphics Card" on page 29.

4Replace the memory module(s). See "Replacing the Memory Module(s)" on page 18.

5Replace the wireless mini-card, if applicable. See "Replacing the Wireless Mini-Card" on page 32.

6Replace the computer cover. See "Replacing the Computer Cover" on page 16.

Entering the Service Tag in system setup

1Turn on the computer.

2Press <F2> during POST to enter the system setup program.

3Navigate to the Main tab and enter the Service Tag in the Service Tag Input field. See "System Setup" on page 76.
