Replacing the Processor Fan and Heat-Sink

Procedure

1Clean the thermal grease from the bottom of the heat-sink.

2Apply new thermal grease to the top of the processor, if applicable.

3Place the processor fan and heat-sink assembly over the processor.

4Align the captive screws on the processor fan and heat-sink assembly with the screw holes on the system board.

5Tighten the captive screws that secure the processor fan and heat-sink assembly to the system board

6Connect the processor fan cable to the system board connector CPU_FAN. See "System-Board Components" on page 13.

Postrequisites

Replace the computer cover. See "Replacing the Computer Cover" on page 16.
