2 Creating the VT100 Chain

A single VT100 connection through the TRACER MPS provides access to both the primary (MAIN) and SECONDARY TRACER units. Follow the steps below to create the VT100 chain.

1.Connect the RS-232 port (DB-25) on the rear panel of the MAIN TRACER BBP to the TRACER MPS VT100 interface (labeled 1 on the figure below) using the provided DB-25 (MALE) to RJ-45 (FEMALE) adapter (P/N 3196ADPT010) and standard 8-conductor straight-though cable. Repeat the step for the STANDBY unit (see label 2).

3 Connecting to the Unit

1.Connect a VT100 terminal (or PC with VT100 emulation software like HyperTerminal) to the TRACER MPS RS-232 console interface using a DB-25 Male (for TRACER MPS) to DB-9 Female (for terminal or PC) straight-through serial cable.

2.Configure the COM port with the following parameters:

Data Rate: 9600

Data Bits: 8

Parity Bits: None

Stop Bits: 1

Flow Control: None

3.Open a VT100 terminal session. (Please refer to the appropriate VT100 terminal software documentation for detailed instructions.)

4.Press <Return> to begin the configuration session. The TRACER MPS Interface is now active.

Protection Switch specifications

ADTRAN Protection Switch is an innovative solution designed to enhance network reliability and resilience through effective protection and failover mechanisms. This cutting-edge technology is primarily utilized in telecommunications and data networks, ensuring continuous service availability even in the face of failures or disruptions.

One of the standout features of the ADTRAN Protection Switch is its ability to provide seamless protection switching between primary and backup paths. Leveraging advanced algorithms, the system can detect any failures in the primary data path and automatically reroute traffic to a predefined backup path within milliseconds. This instantaneous failover capability minimizes downtime and ensures that critical data traffic continues to flow without interruption.

The ADTRAN Protection Switch employs various technologies to achieve high levels of performance and reliability. Among these, the use of Ethernet, MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching), and fiber optics allows for high-speed data transmission and improved bandwidth utilization. The integration of these technologies ensures that organizations can maintain performance standards in demanding environments.

Another essential characteristic of the ADTRAN Protection Switch is its scalability. The modular design allows for easy expansion and integration with existing network infrastructures. As organizations grow and their network needs change, the protection switch can be adjusted to accommodate increased traffic loads or additional service requirements without requiring a complete overhaul of the system.

Moreover, the ADTRAN Protection Switch supports advanced management features, including network monitoring and diagnostics. Users can access real-time performance analytics and alerts, empowering network administrators to proactively address potential issues before they affect service quality. This comprehensive management capability ensures consistent network performance and facilitates prompt troubleshooting.

In addition to its robust technical features, the ADTRAN Protection Switch is designed with redundancy in mind. Dual power supplies and redundant components ensure that the device remains operational even if one part fails. This level of reliability is crucial for organizations that cannot afford outages, especially those in critical sectors like healthcare, finance, or emergency services.

Ultimately, the ADTRAN Protection Switch represents a significant advancement in network protection technology. With its state-of-the-art features, adaptability, and commitment to reliability, it provides organizations with the confidence that their data services will remain uninterrupted, even in the face of unexpected events. This makes it an invaluable asset in today's increasingly interconnected digital landscape.
