SELECTING A DEVICE

Once you have programmed your remote control, use the following steps to become familiar with the selection and control of your devices.

1.Pick up the remote control or touch the touch screen once, anywhere on the screen, to activate the dis- play. The default mode is set to TV.

Note: When the remote control is not in use, the touch screen turns off after a preset time to con- serve battery life. When activated, the remote con- trol remembers and displays the last-used mode.

2.Point the remote control at the device you want to control.

3.Using the Mode Keys, touch a desired device key (for example, VCR/DVD). If necessary, touch the MODE SHIFT key repeatedly to display other device choices. The selected device appears, along with the appropriate remote control keys. Refer to “A Quick Look at the Keys” on Page 6 to view lists of the available keys for each device.

CONTROLLING A SELECTED DEVICE

Press or touch the appropriate hard and soft keys to control a desired function. For example, from the VCR mode, press POWER (hard key) to turn on the VCR. Then insert a tape and touch PLAY (soft key) to start playback.

Refer to “A Quick Look at the Keys” on Page 6 for tables of the available keys for each device and their functions.

Note: The selected device will not respond if it has not been set up. Check the following table to see if the de- fault factory settings cover any of your system devices. If
