4.5 Write-protecting a Cartridge
You can write-protect a cartridge to prevent its data from being changed or written over. Cartridges are write-protected by sliding the tab on the rear of the cartridge so that the hole is open (see figure 4-2).

To write-protect the cartridge, slide the tab on the rear of the cartridge so that the hole is open.
NOTE:
Write-protecting a cartridge in this manner utilizes software as a means of preventing data from being erased by accident. It does not prevent the magnetic erasing of data using demagnetizers.
