Appendix LCD Messages
There are 3 types of LCD messages:
E : Error messages
I : Informational messages
S : Status messages

|
| The tape is now positioned at the BOD. |
|
|

At EOD | E | On | A READ or SPACE command encountered an unex- |

| pected EOD (End of Data). |
|
|
| The tape is now positioned at the EOD. |
|
|
|
|
Bad Media | E | Flashing | A READ or SPACE command has failed because |
|
|
| the tape is not in DDS format. |
|
|
| Action: Unload the tape and use a |
|
|
| (Media Recognition System) tape. |
|
|
|
|
Cannot Write | E | Flashing | A WRITE, WRITE FILEMARK or ERASE command |
|
| has been attempted on a | |
|
|
| System tape. |
|
|
| Action: Remove the cartridge and replace it with a |
|
|
| Media Recognition System cartridge. |
|
|
|
|
Clean fail: | E | Flashing | Cleaning failed, possibly due to an expired tape. |

| Action: Use a new cleaning cartridge. |
Tape |

Clean Me | E | Flashing | A high error rate has been detected while reading or |

|
| writing. |
|
|
| Action: Insert a cleaning cartridge to clean the tape |
|
|
| heads, ensuring that the tape in the cleaning car- |
|
|
| tridge has not been used up. |
|
|
|
|
Cleaning | S | — | A cleaning cartridge has been loaded into the drive |
|
|
| mechanism. |
|
|
|
|
Close Door | E | Flashing | The autoloader does not work because the front |
|
|
| panel door is open. |
|
|
| Action: This is probably caused by a magazine that |
|
|
| is not fully inserted into the autoloader. Insert the |
|
|
| magazine fully into the autoloader or remove it. |
|
|
|
|
Drive Comms | E | On | The drive has stopped communicating with the |

|
| changer mechanism. |
|
|
| Action: Call for service. |
|
|
|
|
Drive fault | E | — | The drive has detected an internal error. |
