4 − Basic operations

The virtual front panel (VFP)

The DV-RA1000HD allows access to many functions through the virtual front panel, providing a graphical representation of many of the keys and controls that might be hardware switches on other units.

Note that many of these functions are hardware keys on the remote control unit.

To launch the virtual front panel

1From the home screen, press the ENTER key.

The virtual front panel appears.

There are four types of the virtual front panel: “PLAY”, “REC”, “CD”, and “etc.

Press CANCEL to exit the virtual front panel and return to the home screen.

2Press the function key (F1 - F4) that corresponds to the tab on the bottom of the screen to display the desired panel.

Each panel features the switches to which various functions are assigned.

3Rotate the JOG/DATA dial to select a switch in the panel.

4Use the F5 (PUSH) key or ENTER key to press the selected switch.

If a switch just toggles between on and off, a mark appears above the switch when the switch is turned on, and a mark appears above the switch when the switch is turned off.

NOTE

In this manual, the procedure of selecting a switch in the virtual front panel and pressing the F5 key is referred to as “pressing a switch.”

Some switches, when pressed for at least one second, present a menu of choices, but others just toggle between on and off.
