Turning the expansion unit on and off
This section contains instructions for turning the expansion unit on and off under normal and emergency circumstances.
If you are turning on the expansion unit after an emergency shutdown or power outage, refer to “Turning on the expansion unit after an emergency” on page 5.
Turning on the expansion unit
Use this procedure to turn on the power for the initial startup of the expansion unit.
1.Verify that:
a.All cables are properly attached.
b.Both power cords are plugged into the back of the expansion unit and into properly grounded electrical outlets.
c.All hard disk drives are locked securely in place.
d.All switches are set correctly: the internal option switches 1 through 4, external option switches 1 through 5, and the unit ID switch on the expansion unit. (See “Setting the interface options and ID settings” on page 10 for more information.)
