Rating

Some DVDs contain parental control information that applies to the complete disc or certain scenes on the disc. By using the parental control feature of the unit, you can specify the restriction level to prevent the unit from playing scenes not suitable for children (for example, scenes of excessive violence).

The unit is also equipped with a password-locking mechanism designed to prevent children from changing the restriction level.

NOTES

Parental control does not function with DVDs which do not contain parental control information.

Parental control does not function if the parental control information on the DVD does not match the country code setting (page 50).

Enter a 4-digit password using the

When you have not entered a password yet

Enter a 4-digit password and press SELECT/ENTER. Then, enter the password again and press SELECT/ENTER to confirm it.

Example:

To enter password "1234", press the number

 

buttons 1, 2, 3 and then 4.

When you have already entered a password

Enter the password and press SELECT/ENTER.

If you entered a wrong number

Press CLEAR and re-enter the correct password, then press SELECT/ENTER.

3 Press i/k to select the desired restriction level and press SELECT/ ENTER.

You cannot play DVDs rated higher than the level you have selected unless you cancel the parental control. For example, selecting level 1 makes it impossible to play any disc with a rating of 2 to 8.

In the next "Country Code" section, adjust the restriction level you have set here to the cinema rating system of the country where the DVD disc was produced.

To cancel the parental control

Select "Unlock" in step 3.

To change the password

1In step 3 above, press i/kto select "Change" and press SELECT/ENTER.

2Enter a new 4-digit password and press SELECT/ ENTER.

3Enter the password again and press SELECT/ ENTER to confirm it.

If you forget the password

 

Carry out the following procedure to clear the current

 

password.

 

1 Press SETUP to display the setup menu.

 

If the setup menu has been displayed, first exit the

En

setup menu.

 

2Use the number buttons to enter the 6-digit number "210499".

"P CLr" appears in the display window and the current password is cleared.
