J Play indicator (31)

This indicator is shown during playback.

KPause indicator (31)

This indicator appears when playback is paused.

LTitle & group number

Title and group numbers appear here.

MChapter & track number

Chapter and track numbers appear here.

NTime display

Time information, such as total time, remaining time, and so on, is displayed here in hours, minutes, and seconds. Other messages are also displayed.

OMP3 indicator

This indicator appears while an MP3 track is being played.

PDolby Digital ( D), Dolby Pro Logic ( PL) & DTS ( ) indicators

The Dolby Digital indicator ( D) appears when a Dolby Digital soundtrack is selected. The Dolby

Pro Logic ( PL) indicator appears when the DPC-8.5’s Dolby Pro Logic decoder is on. The DTS indicator appears when a DTS soundtrack is selected.

QDISC indicators 1–6 (29)

These indicators show how many discs are loaded. When the disc tray is closed, all of the disc indica- tors appear until the DPC-8.5 has checked each bay for the presence of a disc. If a bay is found to have no disc, the corresponding indicator disappears.

AVIDEO OUTPUT 1 & 2 (21)

These sockets output composite video and can be connected to a composite video input on a TV or projector.

BS VIDEO OUTPUT 1 & 2 (21)

These sockets output S-Video and can be connected to an S-Video input on a TV or projector.

CD.MIX AUDIO OUTPUT (21, 24)

These sockets output analog audio and can be con- nected to a stereo analog audio input on a TV, hi-fi amp, or other component. If the source audio is multichannel (Dolby Digital, DTS, DVD-Audio, SACD), they output a 2-channel downmix.

DFRONT, SURR 1, CENTER & SUBWOOFER AUDIO OUTPUT (23)

These sockets output 5.1-channel analog audio and can be connected to a 5.1-channel analog audio

input on an AV receiver, surround sound decoder (Dolby Pro Logic), or other component. The FRONT outputs can be used as either front outputs or downmix outputs (see page 58).

ESURR 2 AUDIO OUTPUT (23)

These sockets output the same analog audio as the SURR1 outputs and can be connected to the analog surround back left and right inputs on a 7.1-channel AV receiver or other component. When using these sockets, the SURR MODE switch should be set to 1+2.

FSURR MODE (AUDIO OUT) switch (23)

This switch is used to set the surround output mode of the analog multichannel audio outputs. If you connect the SURR 2 outputs to a 7.1-channel AV receiver or amp, set this switch to 1+2. This reduces the output level by 3 dB. If you’re not using the SURR 2 outputs, set it to 1.
