Troubleshooting

The IP address has been

IP addresses obtained from a DHCP server are dynamic and may change. If the IP address has

changed by DHCP

been changed, use AXIS IP Utility or AXIS Camera Management to locate the product on the

network. Identify the product using its model or serial number, or by the DNS name (if the name

has been configured).

If required, a static IP address can be assigned manually. For instructions, see the Installation and

Management Software CD or the document Assign an IP Address and Access the Video Stream on

Axis Support web at www.axis.com/techsup.

Certificate error when using

For authentication to work properly, the date and time settings in the Axis product should be

IEEE 802.1X

synchronized with an NTP server. See Date & Time, on page 47.

The product is accessible locally but not externally

Router configuration

To configure your router to allow incoming data traffic to the Axis product, enable the NAT-traversal

feature which will attempt to automatically configure the router to allow access to the Axis

product, see NAT traversal (port mapping) for IPv4, on page 50. The router must support UPnPTM.

Firewall protection

Check the Internet firewall with your network administrator.

Default routers required

Check if you need to configure the router settings from System Options > Network > TCP/IP >

Basic.

Control Panel (streaming tab). See AXIS Media Control (AMC), on page 16.

In the AMC Control Panel, select the H.264 tab and click Set to default H.264 decoder.

Check that RTSP is enabled under System Options > Network > TCP/IP > Advanced.

Multicast H.264 only

Check if your router supports multicasting, or if the router settings between the client and the

accessible by local clients

product need to be configured. The TTL (Time To Live) value may need to be increased.

No multicast H.264

Check with your network administrator that the multicast addresses used by the Axis product

axis q6042s ptz dome network camera specifications

The Axis Q6042-S PTZ Dome Network Camera is a sophisticated device designed for high-performance surveillance in diverse environments. With its robust construction and advanced features, this camera is ideal for use in critical areas such as airports, train stations, and city surveillance, ensuring reliable monitoring and security.

One of the standout features of the Axis Q6042-S is its high-definition image quality. The camera offers a resolution of up to 720p, allowing for clear and detailed video capture. This is further enhanced by its powerful zoom capabilities, featuring a 36x optical zoom lens. This enables users to focus on distant objects without sacrificing image quality, making it easy to identify individuals or objects of interest.

The pan-tilt-zoom (PTZ) functionality of the Axis Q6042-S is another significant characteristic. The camera can pan 360 degrees continuously and tilt from -20 to 90 degrees. This extensive range of motion provides complete coverage of the surveillance area, allowing operators to track fast-moving objects efficiently. Additionally, with preset positions, users can quickly move to key areas of interest, streamlining the monitoring process.

For versatility in different lighting conditions, the camera includes features such as day/night functionality and Axis' Lightfinder technology, which enhances its ability to capture color images in low-light environments. The advanced image processing capabilities ensure that the video remains clear and detailed, regardless of the lighting conditions.

Another technological advantage of the Axis Q6042-S is its advanced compression technologies, including H.264 and Motion JPEG. These technologies allow for efficient video streaming, reducing bandwidth and storage requirements without compromising video quality. The camera also supports Power over Ethernet (PoE), simplifying installation by allowing both power and data to be delivered over a single cable.

Moreover, the Axis Q6042-S is equipped with built-in analytics capabilities, enabling it to detect motion and trigger alerts based on predefined parameters. This intelligent functionality not only enhances security but also reduces the need for constant monitoring, allowing operators to focus on critical events.

In summary, the Axis Q6042-S PTZ Dome Network Camera stands out with its high-definition imaging, extensive PTZ capabilities, low-light performance, advanced compression technologies, and built-in analytics. Its robust design and versatile features make it an excellent choice for any surveillance application requiring precision, reliability, and ease of use.
